Chocolate Sugar Free Heart

Chocolate Sugar Free Heart

As most of you will know by now, chocolate is very dear to my heart. This means Easter is a very exciting time of year for me!! I came up with these cute little chocolate shapes after looking at the ingredients in the chocolate eggs in the supermarket and seeing how packed they were with refined sugar and nasties. These hearts are gloriously rich, pure chocolatey heaven!!

Recipe:

  • 1/2c coconut oil or cacao butter (cacao butter is better to use if you’re in hotter climates as won’t melt as easily as coconut oil)
  • 1/2 cacao powder
  • 1 tblsp raw honey or sweetener
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4c chopped raw hazelnuts
  • pinch salt
  • (If you want your chocolate to not melt as fast you can melt into the mixture around 50g of dark chocolate (80% or higher))

Method:

  1. Gently heat the coconut oil or cacao butter and the honey in a pot on the stove until melted
  2. Take off the heat and add the cacao, vanilla extract and salt
  3. Let the mixture thicken at room temperature for about 10 minutes before pouring into heart (or other shape) cookie cutter moulds laid out on a baking paper lined tray
  4. Sprinkle the hazelnuts on top of the chocolate inside the moulds
  5. Put in freezer for an hour

(store in freezer)

ENJOY!! xx
